Our Top Ten Pembrokeshire Picks!

Make the most of your stay at Cuffern Manor with the recommendations below. For lots more info see our activities-guide here.

1. WALK THE COAST

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path offers 186 miles of stupendous scenery. We love Abereiddy to Porthgain (3 miles) and Porthclais to St. Non’s Chapel (St. David's birthplace), returning via St. Davids (3 miles). Use the local buses that follow the coast or go all in with a two week 186 mile odyssey!

2. SWIM AT NEWGALE

Newgale beach is one of Pembrokeshire’s finest and has been awarded the very highest EU Blue Flag standard. Also excellent for surfing / bodyboarding (you can hire gear at the beach), making dams or exploring the caves at low tide. Caerfai, Nolton Haven and Whitesands are also firm family favourites!

3. SAVOUR ST DAVIDS

Britain's smallest city packs a big punch with many must see sights including walks around the 12th century cathedral and its superb grounds, the excellent visitor centre cafe and sublime beaches of Caerfai and Whitesands. We recommend the delectable pizza at The Grain.

4. STROLL IN SOLVA

Solva is a wonderful harbour full of interesting boats, art galleries and stunning restaurants. Look out for Pointz Castle Ice Cream on the road between Newgale and Solva.

5. PAELLA AT PICTON

Picton Castle is a beautiful house with Cuffern connections and lovely grounds to explore including a restored walled garden. Do not miss the amazing spanish-welsh food at Maria's Courtyard Restaurant!

6. EYE AN ISLAND

Grey seals, manx shearwaters and puffins abound on Skomer, Ramsey, Skokholm and Grassholm. All are fascinating islands reachable by boat - highly recommended for the best of Pembrokeshire wildlife!

7. HEAD FOR HAVERFORDWEST

Pembrokeshire's ancient county town doesn't disappoint with charming shops, riverside walks, museum, historic castle, leisure centre and plentiful restaurants / cafes. Do not miss the Friday Farmers Market!

8. PEDAL THE PARK

Cuffern is only a mile from National Cycle Network Route 4 at Roch. Enjoy the national park's 50 miles of traffic-free cycle paths and great maps to guide you. Visit cyclepembrokeshire.com for more info. Mikes Bikes of Haverfordwest will bring your hire bikes to Cuffern Manor.

9. HIKE THE HILLS

The prehistoric Preseli Mountains are the source for the bluestones of Stone Henge and contain ancient standing stones and burial chambers, built as tombs 5,000 years ago. Be sure to stop for lunch at the Tafern Sinc in Rosebush.

10. DO NOTHING

Sit in our walled garden with the ducks and a picnic or in our cosy lounge with a book from the library.
